Hello, and welcome to Love to Latitude!

We are Brett and LJ, a couple based in Oregon, who has recently embarked on a new journey after Brett spent 16 years working in the Alaskan Arctic. During that time, we experienced the challenges of balancing work and family, and we knew it was time for a change.

Our passion for exploring and creating something meaningful for our family led us to create Love to Latitude. We believe that travel is not just about being a tourist but about immersing oneself in new cultures and giving back to the communities that welcome us.

Through Love to Latitude, our mission is to empower people to explore the world, inspire others to step out of their comfort zones, and create meaningful relationships. We believe that small actions can lead to significant positive changes.

Hi, I’m Brett!

A simple, laid-back guy who loves adventure, travel, and service. I grew up in sunny Florida, spending most of my time in the water. If I wasn’t swimming, wakeboarding, or exploring along the St. Johns River, I was at the beach surfing, doing my best to live my best life! I surfed my first wave at the age of 6 with my dad in New Smyrna Beach, FL., and have loved the sport ever since.

I’ve lived in three different states within the U.S.: Florida, Alaska, and Oregon. Currently, I reside in Oregon with my wife, LJ and I love every moment of its beauty. I used to work in the Arctic of Alaska for 16 years in one of the harshest environments on our planet, and yes, it gets frigid. I can honestly say I’ve experienced some of the coldest temperatures on earth (-98 degrees Fahrenheit).

I made a promise to my wife in 2009 that when our daughters were off on their own, we would open a new chapter in our lives and pursue our passions. Finally, in 2022 we took the plunge, quit my job in Alaska, and transitioned full-time as Love to Latitude.

I have a beautiful wife that supports my wild ideas, thirst for adventure, & ridiculous humor.

My favorite place I’ve traveled to is Fiji, & my dream home would be on a private island with great surf and clear blue water. Sunny all day with a little rain in the evening while sharing a bit of paradise with close friends and family.

Hi, I’m LJ!

Hi there! I’m an outgoing yet shy small-town gal born and raised on Kodiak Island, Alaska, known as the “Emerald Isle.” Although moving away from my home state was difficult after 35 years, I found a new home in Oregon that reminds me of the beauty and comfort of my hometown.

I’m passionate about travel, helping others, and organization. Staying organized helps me plan, prepare for surprises, and enjoy every moment. I’m also flexible and adaptable to new opportunities that come my way. But what brings me the most joy is positively impacting people’s lives, no matter how big or small the gesture. Knowing that I’ve helped someone is the ultimate reward.

My husband, Brett, and I share similar passions for travel and people. Brett’s adventurous and spontaneous spirit helps me step out of my comfort zone and try new things. Together, we’ve been fortunate to travel to incredible places and have created unforgettable memories. We’re always excited to see where our next adventure takes us! Whether it’s a short trip or a long one, we make time for travel. Some of my favorite places include Fiji and the Maldives, where I’ve had unique experiences that I will always treasure.
